It started just as a fun job in the Squamish Parks Dept for the summer; and a way to be outside working on her tan. Little did she know she would be surrounded by passionate plant people who became mentors and lifelong friends. She knew right away that THIS is where she was supposed to be. So she changed gears and continued her education in horticulture & arboriculture. Her travels and varied work experiences along the way lead her down a career path that, even after 32 yrs, she still truly loves what she does!! Education remains as a cornerstone for Michelle and she is grateful to still be learning new things every day. She continues to be humbled by her work and forever appreciates to be able to work with such a great team. She also prefers to talk about trees & plants rather than about herself. So if you ask her about her favourite tree....there will probably be way too many to choose just one. But a few that top the list are the Rock Elm (Ulmus thomasii); Maidenhair Tree (Gingko biloba); Japanese Umbrella Pine (Sciadopitys verticillata); and the Pacific Madrone (Arbutus menziesii).
